So now the Scout Group is finished as well as the Scalextric Club.

Both due to lack of support ..... support from the local community !!!!

Use it or lose it !!....what will be next ??

In my opinion the amount they are asking for the garage, is way over the top for a business that has closed, It does have the potential to be a lucrative business, but it needs someone who wants to be part of Crowland and it's community, you are dealing predominantly with local people, they are your customer base.

Regarding the scout group and Scalextric clubs, not appealing enough to inspire new members to join. Shops need to specialise more, so not to have to rely on passing local trade, after all what else is needed to meet the local needs?.

With 3 shops in Crowland selling newspapers, magazines and food items, it is difficult for shoppers to use all the shops especially when they are selling same items. So how can Crowlanders support their community with this kind of retailing in progress. What we need is variety and especially esential items. I would have thought the veg shop would have been successful, but even that closed after a short opening time. What is the solution?

As many of us will know the veg shop did run successfully for many years and the brief opening recently witnessed was more of a reopening after a short period of absence.

Judging from the trade the veg stall on the market has I, too, would think a permanent shop of local produce could do well.

The shop itself and the ex-butchers next door were due to be demolished for housing which is why they are currently empty.

Do the old shops need to be shops ? Could they be returned to housing ? or anything to tidy up the frontage ?

So what business shops do we need ? What would you use / support ?

We also need to take a pride in the town. We were judged for Crowland in Bloom last week. Another godd effort with the street flowers but has anyone noticed the weed ridden gutters and paths everywhere ? (especially Wyevale junction !) The flowers are good but best kept ??? I don't think so !!

As I've said, I've only recently moved here, but it seems to me...

A bakery might do well? There isnt anywhere that sells fresh bread/cakes in town is there? Plus they could do special event cakes like wedding cakes etc? Might work.

A good indian/tandori would be useful as well - Tried eastern spice and 5spice at eye green and not really impressed with either, so have resorted to going back to the Chameli in Holbeach.

Never been in the florist, but it looks small so I assume they only really do flowers. Would be nice if they moved somewhere bigger and did a good selection of gifts as well (belgium chocs/photo frames/teddy bears etc).

Somewhere to grab a decent coffee for take away on the way to work would be nice as well.

Is that because we all love Belgian chocs and photo frames? They would need a much bigger place to sell those lines now wouldn't they?

Yes all great ideas! Keep them coming!!
