About time the look of Crowland changed... That has been a eye sore for the past few years!

I agree totally, a real eyesore so hopefully what is going to replace it will be pleasant on the eye. I believe it's housing.

The old ambulance station, between Spar and Barclays, is going too. Development of a shop and houses behind as I understand it.

I doubt they will put houses on it in this current climate due to costs of decontaminating the land.

There shouldn't be any contamination !?!?!? It did not take long to build on the BP garage at Deeping St James

As my, slightly tongue in cheek, user name may suggest I was a resident of Crowland until relatively recently. I have settled in a part of the country that is renowned for it's tourism. And yet , gues what the banter in the local is all about, " everything is closing down". It is not just an issue in Crowland , it affects the vast majority of small to medium market towns in the UK. Market squares are becoming eyeores full of empty shops. Failing that charity shops take the place of the butcher etc. (not that there is neccessarilly anything wrong with this). The reasons are many, a change in the way we work, the advent of the supermarket, the rise of internet shopping to name but a few. If people want to support local business they have to accept that they are going to have to pay more for those goods on the whole. So if you want local shops dig deep. The same applies here , in Crowland, and all over the UK.
