1. White Van man and there are loads who park there, overhang the cobbled area restricted the width of the road at a critical pinchpoint. .
Maybe, but white van man is only parked momentarily and then gone again. In the past the the upholsterer's van could be parked there all day and this did not herald yellow lines so why now ? Lets face it Long white vans or not it has not caused a great problem in the past so the reasoning will be interesting.

2. There is now a clear view through Trinity Bridge from Thorney road making traffic approaching the staggered junction more visible.
Tested this theory out and cannot see any benfit with or without parked vehicles of any size so I must disagree ......again !!!

Like previous posts I would expect the lines to be allow the road edge not along the kerbside. That makes sense but since when did that matter to Authorities ??

Juan,

Since you can obviously fit your ice-cream van comfortably in that cobbled bay, I accept your view.

Despite the double yellows, I noted 2 more vans and a car flouting the Law this very morning at 9:15am plus 7 cars and a motorcycle parked in the Friday Morning no parking zone (between 7am and 10am).

Whatever is the world coming to?

I know it is a radical idea but what if we left our cars at home and walked to the shops ??

If at the end of the double yellow line there is no yellow line capping of the two at a right angle then the double yellow line has no legal meaning and have effectivley been painted for pure decoration.

Have a look at the double yellow lines following the path along the memorial.

They have not been capped off and are therefore meaningless.

To be prosecuted for parking there, I believe there needs to be a passing Police officer/PCSO who is not on a shout or going for a break and who is willing to do the paperwork involved.

I think if you have a blue badge you may park there. Time to dust off the Highway Code folks.
Section 239 says "use off street parking areas...wherever possible".

In some places the local authority is responsible for parking enforcement instead of the Police.

Actually it would be great if the Police enforced other parking no-nos like parking next to a sloping pavement, opposite a junction and in bus stops especially outside the Legion.

Juan, I did walk to the shops today. It took ages as everyone I met wanted to fuss puppy and she kept picking up fag ends at the end of North Street.

It's a moot point in Law but it has been successfully defended!

There were 6 cars parked on those double yellows this morning... and not a blue badge in sight. With that camera looking down from on high, I don't think it will be very long before someone gets tugged.

I had a call back from Lincolnshire highways dept this morning and the caller confirmed that parking will NOT be allowed outside Bridge Hardware unless you are a blue badge holder (not causing an obstruction) or collecting heavy items from the shop. Apparently the original yellow lines on the road were placed in error. The new lines do not look particularly attractive in a conservation area but are here to stay. It might take a while for people to get out of the habit of parking there especially those who have used it for many years without problems.

I expect this issue will come up at the Neighbourhood Panel meeting on Monday 20th September 7.30pm at the Parish Rooms where members of the Parish Council and Police representatives usually attend. Come and make your feeling known.

Being speechless, I offer no comment to the response of LCC below:-

"The lining work carried out in Crowland formed part of the recently completed review of waiting restrictions (yellow lines) across the area. The key aim of this review was to ensure that lines 'on the ground' matched the traffic regulation orders that were in place to enforce them -in advance of forthcoming parking decrimilisation measures. Orders were raised to consolidate any errors that were found. In this particular instance the yellow lines ran along side the carriageway edge in front of a cobbled area outside the hardware shop (the cobbled area is part of the public highway). Where double yellow lines exist waiting is prohibited anywhere behind the yellow lines. The correct location for yellow lines are on the back edge of the highway. In this case the lines had been previously laid incorrectly and the consolidation order merely moved the lines to where they should have been in the first place - in line with the TRO."
