I'm still wondering what Lion Andy's comment was about?!

I think this is just a play on words and I think Lion Andy was just being jovial.

But can I say that I think we should just pull back a little and not make any judgements just yet - let the new owners/tenants/business operators of the Bridge Inn a little time to make their impact.

It takes something to take on a business like this - time, effort and a massive financial investment. It isn't something you can turn around overnight.

Your havvin a larf TD!!

So here's my list....

1. Don't complain about your council till you've tried running one is what I say.
2. Don't complain about your pension till you've been in charge of pensions is what I say
3. Don't complain about the government till you've been PM is what I say.
4. Don't complain about supermarkets until you've run Sainsburys is what I say.

etc etc etc......

Your argument does not stack up....... but I like you and respect your view.

So take me up on my offer and nip out to try the reopened pub and let us all know your view.

It was heaving with embarrassed punters who couldn't wait to get out the door. The landlord was embarrassed that his barmaid was unsure how to serve a coke. I was embarrassed that I had walked in to an establishment that could not serve a quick coffee, I was driving but for my work colleague there was only one real ale on offer. Food will be available in around two weeks.

Rather than listen to my experiences as I have not yet found a decent venue in this great town, why not pop along this evening for a quick half and let us all know your views?

There were about a dozen of us in there yesterday afternoon, having a great time. We're obviously a little more forgiving of any teething troubles there may be, seems the postmix was on the blink at times. I'm sure that it will appeal to the more discerning, less arrogant crowd, who fancy a quiet drink in nice surroundings.

Are you talking about Ye Olde Bridge Inn?

I'm sure you're right though. Give it time and it should be ok.

A couple of days after the new tenants ,Steve and Faye moved into the bridge inn i visited them to discuss providing a venue for a get together for members of the Wildlife Group and i found them very attentive and keen to meet our needs despite probably boring them with a potted history of Crowland and enthusing about the Fenland Waterway Project and the benefits it could bring our way. They are keen to make the pub family freindly with a cosy atmosphere which i think would work well with the type of building it is and the location. Of course there are always the experts who know how to pour a coke or make the perfect coffee but would not have the courage or brains to take on a new venture such as this . So i say give them a chance, make them welcome to our town and then if you are not happy look for somewhere else to drink . Philip j.

>>> The rate of pub closures is accelerating, with 52 going out of business every week.

I wish them Good Luck! For a service industry business they are going to have to do something very special to get Crowlanders and those further afield to regularly cross the river for a drink and a meal in these difficult times.

Will we be going to Ye Olde Bridge Inn for a quick warm up and a brew after Moth Night?
(Just a quick yes or no would suffice)
