Good Info Grumpy Old man.

We popped up to the Bridge Inn today, and YES it's open again.

Looks like a nice couple have taken it on, starting with the bar and looking to open the restaurant in a cpl of weeks after some safety (PAt testing etc) and remediation work is done in the kitchen.

I wish them the best of luck in their new venture.

It's nice to see the Old bridge open again

I'm confused by your comments...... why would you not go there again? I was hoping for somewhere nice to go again for some homemade food!

Does any one know when they will start serving food? Have they done any refurbishments since it closed last year?

try the crown as the lady who does the cooking there apparently used to be the cook at the Bridge and everything is home cooked at the Crown now. The front is looking so much better now too.

Shan't be going there again either???

Does that mean you went and it was too quiet? I too am confused by your comment, please elaborate.

It was heaving with embarrassed punters who couldn't wait to get out the door. The landlord was embarrassed that his barmaid was unsure how to serve a coke. I was embarrassed that I had walked in to an establishment that could not serve a quick coffee, I was driving but for my work colleague there was only one real ale on offer. Food will be available in around two weeks.

Rather than listen to my experiences as I have not yet found a decent venue in this great town, why not pop along this evening for a quick half and let us all know your views?

Come on peeps, stop all this complaining about our local eating establishments. I am sure the people running these places are trying hard in this woeful economic climate. Besides, some locations don't have a single one pub / eatery, how many have we got? Sooooo, don't knock it till you've tried running one is what I say, after all you can always stay home with a packet of crisps and a lemonade and leave others to form there own opinions - especially if they like what they get!!!!

that was really why I asked for elaboration as someone who runs a local business that partly relies on people recommending it I felt the owners of the Bridge deserved to know why someone wouldn't go there again. Just saying it and leaving it hanging in the air leads to wild imaginings. Drug dealing/bad hygiene/aggressive behaviours etc etc. To me the elaboration puts these fears aside and says no more than a new Landlord and staff trying to get sorted to serve the public.
