The Harwood family tree - research 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
My ties are with Cowbit through my mothers side of my family. I am compiling my family tree, and I have Traced back to John Harwood born around 1718 and who was baptized on 2/7/1738 in Cowbit, on the same day that he was married , probably in the same Church. His wife was called Martha, also from Cowbit, but I don't have a surname. I can't seem to find any trace of James Harwoods parents or siblings in Cowbit , although there are a few possibilities in Crowland.
Can anyone offer any help? Perhaps with gravestone inscriptions etc..
As I live in France it is very difficult to visit personally.
Any help at all would be very welcome, as I have come to a full stop.

I too have an interest in family history but haven't got back anywhere near as far back as you. But now that I am retired I hope to do a bit more on this. I will certainly have a look in the graveyard over the next week and I will also see if there are any parish records dating that far back and, if so, where they are kept

Many thanks Novelman, anything you find would be appreciated. It is very rewarding to find out where you originate from, I have found some very diverse ancestors, a few were in the workhouse at some point in their lives, some emigrated to Canada, and Australia. Some marred several times and as you know in those days some had very large families. I found one with 17 children from 2 wives (my record so far)
