I am not sure if this is the right place for this on the Crowland forum, but somebody will tell me.
Just had a leaflet through my door asking for any old clothing etc. Looked up the company in google search and found they are a registered clothing retail company not a charity as is intimated by the leaflet. This company has been operating country wide and has many forum comments, check out any search engine.
Best thing is to take all old clothing to a charity shop.

My leaflet went straight in the recycling bin. I only leave stuff for charities I know of but even that is not 100% secure as bags can be stolen from the doorstep. I agree with timbothy- if you can, take your donations to a shop.

I read a report there that some charities use professional collection agencies and these companies take a percentage of what is collected. It's like a business.
I am on the Community Playgroup Committee and we recently organised a Bags for Schools collection which is a company that will give Playgroup money based in weight of stuff collected.
Next collection is in March/April 2010. I'll post details here closer to the time if anyone wants to do a spring clean!
