Thanks to funding from two major organisations, the Crowland community celebrates the official opening of the new G S Hall. Crowland residents and visitors were today given the first view of much needed improvements to what was previously known as the Snowden Fields Scout Hut. With funding of £13,400 from the National Lottery and Grassroots Grants, Crowland has seen the old scout hut renamed the G S Hall. Central to the changes has been the complete refurbishment of the kitchen, toilets with facilities for the disabled, and the addition of new tables and chairs, providing a greatly improved community venue for both private or community functions. David Standbridge, chairman of the Parents and Friends Accociation of the Crowland Scout and Guide Group who are located at the hall, described the changes as providing opportunity for any group or individual in the Crowland area to hire the hall for any event. "We can now look at our new hall from a fresh angle," said David. "It's no longer what some people thought as being a shed in a field, but a new location for anyone to hold classes, community group meetings, parties and birthday celebrations. Our committee has worked really hard to bring this about with help from South Holland District Council and the Crowland Parish Council."
If you are looking for a venue to host your event or function, whether on a regular or a one-off basis, then you can contact the G S Hall Booking Secretary on 01733 211544 or on 07728 247598. The hourly rate for hire is £8. |
