Chicago Comes To Crowland -The Crowland Blues Club
The Crowland Blues Club was started in the autumn of 2008 by three members of a similar club in Spalding, credited with being one of the best small venue clubs in the country. The idea was to book blues artists of similar quality for the new venue at Crowland. The first event was held in October last year and proved a great success. The organisers, Graham Coley, Mike Stokes and Chris Wilkinson then set about booking other acts and the monthly event at The Crown Inn was established. "The Crown Inn has ideal facilities to host a blues club, with room to house over 100 people in comfort and offering excellent acoustics." say the organisers. "This is not somewhere to go for a casual chat and a laugh - it´s for real blues connoisseurs who appreciate the musicianship on display."
Forthcoming attractions at the Crowland venue include: The Spikedrivers, Kent Duchaine and Giles Hedley. So, for people whose musical tastes include Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters and Rory Gallagher check out the Crowland Blues Club. |

Chicago and the Mississippi Delta are a few thousand miles away, but much closer to Crowland than anyone else had previously imagined. Three local blues enthusiasts have now put Crowland on the Blues map with the creation of The Crowland Blues Club a monthly event held at The Crown Inn on West Street.
And who can blame them. Putting up House Full for every event is a sure fire way to increase its popularity and a place for the true blue fan to enjoy the atmosphere and performance. Crowland could do with a few more places like this, and here at Crowland Links we still think that a Rock or Blues festival should be staged, every two years perhaps, on Snowden Fields.
