On Tuesday the 14th of September the Wildlife Group will be hosting a Moth night led by Dr Paul Waring at the wildlife pond commencing at 8pm .Paul paid us a visit a few years ago and it was amazing the number and variety of moths we discovered using strings and strands of wool laced with all kinds of substances including wine. On that occasion a couple rare moths turned up which prompted Paul to write an article in the Naturalist magazine about his visit to Crowland and evening with the group. Paul is an expert on moths and is co-auther of the 'Concise Guide To Moths'. We may also do a bit of Bat detecting so if you have a detecter please bring it along. Of course all this depends on warm dry night therefore it would be advisable to contact me on 210680 if you have any doughts or queries. As paul now works freelance in this field we do have to pay for his expertise so a small charge of £5 will be asked of each adult,no charge fo children as long as they accompanied by an adult, you may come a little before 8pm if you wish,we'll be there. Hope to see you , Philip , Crowland Wildlife Group.

How lovely!
I think it will probably be dark by then. Do we bring our own Tilley Lamps?

My next door neighbour mentioned that the temperature will be almost freezing on Tuesday night. Will there be a bonfire to keep everybody warm?

No, only a lamp to attract the moths so wrap up warmly. Can you remember where you put your thermal vest after last winter?

Drove across Crowland Common last night, bumped into many kamikaze moths - hope there are some left for you. Also witnessed two failed kamikaze attemps by rabbits.

So where was everyone? I turned up with my Trevor Baylis torch (it's a wind up) and there was not a soul to be seen. How odd was that? So an explanation would be appreciated please. I didn't even have to nip to the chemist for insect repellent. Not a moth in sight!
